Storm went through last night, flattened and snapped alot of my leaves. Also it picked up my rain barrel and threw it 100 ft into the middle of the patch crushing even more leaves. Will the leaves that are broken only half way through still be any good or should I just remove them with the ripped off ones. Thankfully it missed the pumpkins and the main vine. Should I put something on all the damaged breaks and will this slow the growth of the fruit.

Thanks Phil from Cameron

Hey Phil!Same system went thru here last night.I would only remove the leaves that are completely snapped off.I have leaves still attached and/or flattend from a wind storm in July, and are still healthy......Captan or sulphur on the splits is a must.Hope this helps.

Certainly this is a set back but they will recover and give you something for your efforts. You may be pleasantly surprised at the recovery.

I rip or cut off unwanted vines and toss them at the compost piles. The suckers will root and grow from there if you let them.

Hey Phil, lost a few leaves here, not too much damage. Did your sunflower make it through the storm? Doug

The sunflower was layed out flat, but I was able to stand it back up. Don't think it will grow too much. I removed all the snapped off leaves and left the rest. Looks like the plant will survive to continue its quest on getting bigger. Thanks for the info.
