Last evening I made a little statistic on pumpkins bigger than 1100 lbs using the AGGC.com data base.
I found out that 58% of them were over the chart and 52 under. Curiously the average gain of the heavier pumpkins was 6.7% over, and the average difference of the lighter ones was 6.8%.
Looking now to pumpkins over 900 lbs, the biggest difference between a particular fruit with the chart I found were similar too on heavies and lights. They are 22.8% under for the 1061 Ciliberto 01 and 20.3% for the 951.4 Castelluci 02; and 23.72% over for the 940 Kurilich 01 and 22.2% for the 1156 Larsen 02.
Conclusions? First that the charts are very good made, second that we can get big surprises, until 23% more or less, heavier or lighter. This means that a 1100 lbs est. fruit could result from 747 to 1353 lbs. But the average difference of 6.7% up and down will make you to expect a more probably range from to 1026 to 1174 lbs.

Don......agreed we enjoy your comments. What would you charge me for a six inch slice twenty five feet by forty feet of your patch sent to America? Would you price it to include you and your horse for a year? :)
