            | Urban Farmer (Frantz) | No Place Special | I have a 350 gal water tank for the back of my truck that is starting to get a little ickey on the inside. Algea is starting to grow. My question is what would be a safe way to clean this out without making it toxic to the next plant watered with it? Thanks in advance, Mike Frantz | 8/17/2003 4:37:40 PM |

            | Wes@PA | Chester Co., PA | Chlorine bleach kills algae fast. If you rise and let dry in the sun the residual chlorine will evaporate. There is chlorine in most city water and it is used on plants so a little won't hurt.

            | southern | Appalachian Mtns. | Yep, just let the tank dry thoroughly. I clean my sprayers with it after doing Roundup, works well. | 8/17/2003 4:58:05 PM |

            | Yukon | Yukon, Canada | I let mine get bone dry and then climb right in with an air line and blast away. No chemicals involved. My tank is 1250 gallons though. Good luck! | 8/18/2003 2:13:24 AM |

            | Alun J | Liverpool , England | Potassium permanganate crystals mixed in the water tank will kill off algae. Thats what we use over here, and it dont hurt the plants. | 8/18/2003 5:12:03 AM |

            | Edwards | Hudsonville, Michigan ([email protected]) | McPumpkin:I think algae may actually help the AG's...except it clogs soaker hoses. One heavy hitter once told me that his weights actually went UP when he started using chlorine to keep his gravity fed watering barrels clean. So the chlorine itself may be helpful in some way...
