            | Boily (Alexsdad2) | Sydney, Australia | Anyone ever used this stuff? Reading the back of the bag it sounds like its worth adding? I got a free 45 pound sample bag...... It is a red hard clinoptilolite(looks like gravel shards) that is a chemically stable aluminium silicate mineral formed from the glass component of volcanic ash millions of years ago. It has an attached range of microbes that help to nutrify fertiliser into a more usable form and suppress disease. Also has a negative electrical conductivity and water holding effects. Possibly working hand in hand with microbial innoculants???? Thanks.....Ben | 8/15/2003 9:49:58 PM |

            | docgipe | Montoursville, PA | Sounds very much like volcanic ash which some feel is a potent additive to total soil ballance. I like the sound of it. Simiar products here offering the apparent same benefits suggest ten pounds fall application and ten pounds spring application first year. Half that the second year. Sorry I speak of application to a 1000 sq. ft. patch. You do the math for your beds. Don't think it is critical as an organic additive tends to be reasonably forgiving in application rates. | 8/16/2003 10:54:11 AM |
