            | Engel's Great Pumpkins and Carvings | Menomonie, WI ([email protected]) | OK here is the deal. The 934 has been overtaken by powdery mildew. I now have it under control. My Garden tractor also died, so my wife the insane mower has not been able to mow. Now to get to the point. The 934 has grown in to yard, and the new Garden tractor will be here next week. I want to save the 934 in the yard, she wants to mow it. She said maybe you ought to start a petition. So here is your chance to save the 934. Email me and say Save the 934 in the Subject line or Mow it Down. Thanks Shannon | 8/14/2003 8:22:25 PM |

            | Engel's Great Pumpkins and Carvings | Menomonie, WI ([email protected]) | Just so everyone understands my point!!!! I have no problem saving his 934. But NOT in MY YARD... I have given Shannon many chances to move it. And he just says ya ya. So MY lawn is MY lawn. HIS garden is HIS garden. I don't mess with it. So please understand that this can only go so far. And Here comes the 27 HP Tractor in the yard.
 Thanks
 April (shannon's Wife)

            | Tremor | [email protected] | At the risk of getting involved in what amounts to a domestic dispute, may I make a suggestion? How about Shannon plants a little grass seed in an unused area of the patch so April has more to cut with the new 27HP?
Dryaspopcornfartsdays? I get a bad feeling about clicking the little blue button on this one.

            | Capt | White Plains, NY | My wife likes the appearance of the vines as they grow onto the grass. Its all green but just a different look. Too much grass "might" be boring. I certainly don't mind as it's less grass to mow. Once the fruit is off rip out the vines and mow the grass and it will be as good as new. | 8/15/2003 1:54:50 PM |

            | jeff517 | Ga. | Less grass to mow..LOL...Good Luck Shannon!! | 8/15/2003 2:02:03 PM |

            | Pappy | North Ga | No way I would let my ol' woman on the mower!!! | 8/15/2003 2:07:44 PM |

            | Raytwo | Perrysburg oh. | Let her mow it. It will not do good in the grass or maybee beter LOL | 8/15/2003 3:07:28 PM |

            | thebez | Cooks Creek, Manitoba, Canada | I've debated all day whether to pipe in on this one. My perspective comes from both sides of the argument. No one better step into my garden, especially the AG's, unless they know exactly what they should do. I was also a professional yard maintenance person during my university days and I take tremendous pride in maintaining a well-manicured property, especially the grass. Now that I have 3 acres to mow it's not a perfect as I would like but I would have to say: the garden stays in the garden and grass gets cut up to the edge of the garden.
Nothing looks neater than have a nice lawn butting right up to a wall of AG leaves.

            | Alexsdad | Garden State Pumpkins | Now April the poor AG is only doing what the good lord asks of every AG...that is take the space that you need to feed your little babies....seems to me from one women to another you could understand the nurturing necessary to have your children grow into strong adults!!!...ok shannon you can wire the cash to my account now!!! | Engel's Great Pumpkins and Carvings | Menomonie, WI ([email protected]) | Keep up the work fellow pumpkin growers.:) I believe she is beginning to crack.. I caught her permanently deleting some of the emails. Still only two votes for the grass. I cant believe you two call yourself pumpkin growers.:) Although you do have good points. The plant is going to need this growth since the old growth on the main is toast. Shannon | 8/15/2003 5:59:03 PM |

            | Tremor | [email protected] | Alright already. I too am a grass nut! I've been in the professional turfgrass industry for over 20 years now. Thirteen years with the largest pro-turf/golf manufacturer/sales company in the world. KILL THE GRASS! We are the largest Turf Seed producer in the country. So growing AGP's is good for my economy. And what's good for my economy is also good for our nations economy since I spend (too) much of what I earn.
I enjoy debating for sport. Here are some more points to use in your effort.

Turf already has the unfair advantage of being a perenial.
Your AGP's have 150 days to get it done. And they need the space to perpetuate themselves. A turfgrass plant can can mature & set seed in 1 square foot if you were growing it for seed. It bears seed well in it's second year & continues well for several. But can for many. We must exhibit a sense of fair play here right?

After the AGP season ends April can have a LOT of FUN running over the old vines that ventured out into the turf. And uless you buried all your turf bound secondaries, recovery will be surprisingly swift & at the latter end of the vines may not even require seeding.

            | Tremor | [email protected] | Since you don't mow pumpkins, there are no hydrocarbon emissions. And you're also not purchasing fuel that may be from the Persian gulf which could help finance the terrorists who would sooner see us all dead. Therefore AGP growing is the patriotic & honorable thing to do in the name of our national security (this is where the "Battle Hymn Republic" starts playing in the background & we all get goose bumps & glassy eyes).

After harvesting "the big one", you are encouraged to exhibit it where many people will see it. All will smile. Young childred will laugh right out loud in glee. When's the last time a child viewed your lawn & giggled in delight? Do it for the children!

When the cold winds of winter blow, the decaying AGP's of the world will play host to literally millions of beneficial bacteria that would otherwise never have a chance at life. Your lawn plays host primarily to Chinch Bugs, Grubs, Sod Webworms & maybe a few Ticks & Fleas.

Good luck Shannon. We're all counting on you. Now get back in there in win this one for the gipper!

            | Brigitte | | therefore mowing the AG's would be turning your back on america and you would be considered a traitor! save the 934! | 8/16/2003 10:38:38 AM |

            | Engel's Great Pumpkins and Carvings | Menomonie, WI ([email protected]) | Thanks but I dont think she is too ethical. I hit her where it counts. She is getting a new kitchen floor, and a sparkly little ring for our 10th anniversary. With expenses like this I might just take up fishing again. | 8/16/2003 12:01:23 PM |

            | LIpumpkin | Long Island,New York | You got off cheap Shannon...it cost me a new kitchen....G | 8/16/2003 4:29:50 PM |

            | Engel's Great Pumpkins and Carvings | Menomonie, WI ([email protected]) | Well, Lets get one thing straight here, I have always encouraged | 8/17/2003 8:11:15 AM |

            | Engel's Great Pumpkins and Carvings | Menomonie, WI ([email protected]) | OOPS, Sorry about that. Anyways. I have always encouraged Shannon to grow his Pumpkins. In which I have given up a little more of my grass space each year. Which has not been a problem. So, Since Shannon did by me a ring and finshed putting in our new kitchen floor, I feel a little guilt (not Much). But I am willing to let the 934 stay where it is. You have to understand that I have not been able to mow the lawn for 4 weeks by the time I get the mower. And When I get it I will probably want to mow everyone's lawn.lolApril
