I was wondering if anyone covers their pumpkins a night with blankets. Temps here(Ont.) all summer havn't been that warm so I have been covering most of the season. Will this have any effect on the growth of the fruit. Phil from Cameron

if it's cool at night i think it will help, can't hurt anyway, as long as it doesn't hold moister to your pumpkin.

Nighttime temps are about 55-60 degrees. We are suppose to get some warm weather over the next few days so hopefully the night temps will rise abit also. Thanks for your replies. Phil from Cameron

Phil, out here in the NW where it is always cool at night, never above 60 degrees, we need all the heat we can get. I keep mine covered under a plastic dome tent from the time it is about the size of a basketball. At night the plastic cover comes all the way down and the 60 watt light bulb is turned on to keep the chill away. In the morning the light goes off, the plastic is pulled up a bit on two sides and if it gets too warm, the fan kicks on. This whole process keeps the fruit warm and most importantly, dry. I found blankets just too messy and if it rains, they get wet and don't keep things warm.
