            | pumkin newbie | Central Nj | hi all. new to pumpkin growing. zone 6 nj. planted a pack of seeds this year (no id on them). vines are strong, flowered, got fruit. the question is they are green. can this be right? could it have something to do with all the nasty weather on the east coast? if any one knows what kind they are, please let me know. thanks for any help.

            | BenDB | Key West, FL | Are they Atlantic Giants or just a Jack-O-Lantern variety? | 8/11/2003 8:55:04 PM |

            | pumkin newbie | Central Nj | dont know the variety. i had a pack of unmarked (except for the word pumpkins on it) in the mail. so i planted them to see what happens. this is the first time doing it and have no idea what to expect. | 8/11/2003 9:23:39 PM |

            | Brigitte | | ok ok, basically it depends on what kind of variety they are
if they are the Atlantic giant variety, then you are growing a huge squash, because it's green

if they are any other variety, you have normal pumpkins and they will turn orange when they get ripe
