            | dderat | Cape Cod | I'm swamped with male flowers on Davies 803.5 and a 707 ??. but have had only one female that got to pollination size, and then it didn't take. The vines look to be happy.
I remember that with a certain green crop that shall remain unnamed, if you planted too close together you would get mostly
male plants, as the race did not feel itself to be threated, but when spread out, it did, and so produced more female plants.

Could that be what is going on here? I have the two plants in an 18 x 24 garden.

If not this, can anyone give me a clue as to what is going on?
I fear I have lost the entire season, was hoping to get one fruit from each parental set to grow next year. Bummer.

 TIA

Any chance that your plants don't get full direct sun all day?

            | jeff517 | Ga. | Dont think little sun would be culprit.I have 2 small plants 5-6 ft runners that only get 2-4 hours of sun a day,,got fruit in both main tips..I have hit both hard with 2-10-10 and 10-50-10 a few weeks back...Good Luck... | 8/11/2003 10:01:53 AM |

            | dderat | Cape Cod | Since I posted this, little had changed until the last few days. I did give them a hit of 10-60-10 and am now getting female budseverywhere. Just pollinated the 803 with the 707, and perhaps
tomorrow the reverse. At this point I'll settle for viable seed. The weather was dreadful. I'm still waiting for tomatoes and cucumbers.
