Is there an alternate web site that most growers can agree on using this year?I know I would like to see what everyone has grown this year.Scott

I think there are several good web sites that offer different features.

I created this site to allow any grower the opportunity to enter their information. You can see how many reported a particular seed, analyze how many grew pumpkins of certain sizes. See what city or state reported the largest, view the progeny, family tree...etc.etc
Etc. I also have sites for other giants to track here at http://giantstogrow.com (it used to be called vegetabletoplant.com)

Many growers are now using http://reporting.vegetabletoplant.com to track their growing season.

What happened with AGGC? Did I miss a memo or something?

That's what I was wondering. Then I thought, maybe it's just that Scott doesn't have an AGGC membership this year.?

Props to the AGGC!! What a class act!! That has a SWEET format. I may be obsessive a bit, but I look at the AGGC web site weekly if not daily. To plan the next Year,or just to feed my ADD. I went to pumpkinlink. And to be honest whith you all. I was lost in translation. KEEP IT SIMPLE

Mario's brother, from what I hear it is hard to gain access to AGGC. No need to knock Pumpkinlink... I'd like to see you create something better.

Scott, guys like doug that don't think before they say stupid shit need to go pull an ostrich and stick their head in the sand. Good thing for doug he's not in the golden state. By the way doug; mike is taking the year off from the aggc so you should do a little research before you start talking bullshit to good people like Sledgehammer Scott. As a member of the aggc he was asking how we can all compile our records together into a database with the history of the aggc. Cmon man

Anyways, thanks to those who have created alternatives which I use on a regular basis along with what access I have to the AGGC.

Wow! I just revisited this post, thanks to Austin's email apology. I didn't mean anything disrespectful at all. I checked the front page of the AGGC website before I posted on here, and didn't see anything on there about Mike taking the year off(maybe I missed it, or maybe it was a non-updated page).
I was just trying to make sense of why Scott posted "No AGGC this year", as he didn't clarify it in his initial post. I've been a member of the AGGC in the past, but not for about 2 years now, so I definitely don't look down on non-AGGC members.
When I post on the internet, I try within reason, not to post things that would be taken in an offensive way. I must have missed something this time. Anyway; thanks Scott and Auston for your apologies, I do accept them 100%. Emotions have a funny(or not so funny) way of getting to us. We're all human...we have that in common....giant pumpkin growing in common as well....so therefore I'll count you as my friends. God bless!

i know what happens when you say the wrong thing at the wrong time! its great, all is good now, but if ken d. took a year off, i would have to shoot myself! lol.... scott.

I should add, that after reading my initial post, I could see how someone could take it as me being a smarteleck(even though I didn't intend it). Therefore I apologize as well.
I'd rather know I offended someone, than have them be miserable keeping it inside. What I should have said was ditto to what Tom K. asked, instead of taking guesses lol.

On to the topic:
Even though I don't currently have AGGC access, I hope to sometime again in the future. So I think Scott's question is a good one. I was wondering, if Mike is taking the year off, will he accept the pumpkin info. from this year, when he gets the AGGC back going? In the meantime it would be nice to have access to info./pics from the pumpkins grown this season.

So is aggc shut down for a year? Those in the know, seem to presume that those who are not in the know, do too.

wonder how that will affect the auctions. For the 2012 seeds I would click back a forth getting an idea what the seed will grow into.

I'm hoping some one with the proper skillset will step up and maybe run it this year for Mike. Of course I don't know Mike or if that is in any way possible. If it remains closed we just need to pick one alternate website and submit our 2012 pumpkins.Scott

For those that haven't seen the post on aggc, it is on hte login page.
http://www.aggc.org/login.asp
and states:

After much consideration, I have decided not to receive and maintain data for the 2012 season. I have added another year to everybody's account so please do not send any payment for membership. I hope to resume my AGGC duties for the 2013 season. After 14 years of tracking giant pumpkin data, I am looking forward to a much-needed break. I can still be reached at neps@aggc.org for any desired correspondence but please keep in mind I do not wish to do any data maintenance for at least the remainder of the year. I will however be working on the site to insure it now runs in all modern web browsers including IE, Firefox, Chrome, and Safari. Thank you.

Seed data that is submitted to bigpumpkins.com for the weigh-offs will appear on pumpkinlink.com. Thanks to Ken we have received that data for the last four years and have data that goes back another ten years. If for any reason your pumpkin data doesn't appear on Pumpkin Link you can submit it directly to me. It is a fair amount of work to maintain and add the data each year, but this sport is a passion to me and I hope a benefit to everyone.

would it not be a good idea to setup genetic database on bigpumpkins.com as many images are uploaded to this site anyway.

Initially a simple way to upload data and images of the pumpkins should be easily to be implemented and advanced queries could be added later.
Or had somebody already contacted Mike if he would not hand over the site & data to bigpumpkins.com ?
