            | Cheese Wiz | San Luis Obispo Ca | What is the best Book in terms of growing the BIG ONE! I am getting ready for the 04 season. I think I am going crazy with this pumpkin stuff and I am a licensed therapists, not to mention my wife is a Professor of Psychology a the Local University here in SLO. She thinks I am going "NUTS" I don't care I love the pumpkin growing people and the relationship with the plants and fruit. Any advise on seeds for next year? I want the best. | 8/3/2003 6:35:59 PM |

            | Azkikn | Usa | You are really asking a hard question. How many plants are you going to grow. There are a lot of really good seeds out there. | 8/3/2003 6:46:10 PM |

            | Cheese Wiz | San Luis Obispo Ca | I only grow 3 plants due to space. So I need seeds that have great history. Maybe use the plants I have now? They seem to be doing well. They came from Jim Beauchemin in Goffstown NH. Sorry if I did not spell the last name correct, it's what i read on the letter. I think the seeds are 874 0r 974? I can't remember. But Jim told me the plant weight the year before was 800+. What do you think? | 8/3/2003 7:38:59 PM |

            | Brigitte | | I don't think anyone ever warned you about the addiction factor of giant pumpkin growing. It sounds like it's too late. No, you're not going nuts, you're just becoming one of us. The books to get are at www.giantpumpkin.com

            | Tremor | [email protected] | Careful Cheese. It started like this for us all. First something innocent like an Ag-Fair or a newspaper or magazine article. Then the website. Then the Don Langevin books. Now I am absolutely defenseless against the ominous pull of the patch. Good luck friend & welcome to "the Brotherhood".
It sure wasn't like this when I grew Burpee Prizewinners, Jack Be Littles, & CT Fields.

            | Cheese Wiz | San Luis Obispo Ca | It is very true! The addiction aspect of this is a good one though. No hang over, no running around at night for the next fix. Just watching a big wonderful pumpkin girl get fat, thats the life for me! Thanks for the warm welcome gang! I look to lots of years of growth with you and my AG pumpkins. | 8/3/2003 11:04:51 PM |

            | Suzy | Sloughhouse, CA | Cheese- You need to come to the CA. Pumpkins Growers meeting in the spring. This year it was held in Elk Grove. last yr. it was down your way in Salinas. You have several weigh offs to attend. Oct 6th in Elk Grove official weigh off site. There is on at Borchard Farms in Salinas and Half Moon Bay. Yes it is very addicting. Some local fairs also have contest. I don't know about Paso Robles. | 8/4/2003 12:11:53 AM |

            | Stan | Puyallup, WA | Cheese Wiz....If you really have to have a "fix" this weekend, then come up our way for our PNWGPG Pumpkin Patch Tour on August 10th. We will be going to five patches plus visiting a compost facility. Great food as well! | 8/4/2003 1:08:13 AM |

            | Wes@PA | Chester Co., PA | I think Elk Grove weigh-off is Saturday October 4th this year. Wouldn't it be terrible to arrive on October 6th with the winning pumpkin, and you were the only one there? | 8/4/2003 1:29:21 PM |

            | peepers | Tacoma, WA | I can tell that Suzy is already attempting to "psych" the competition. :>) | 8/4/2003 2:56:36 PM |
