            | CharlieVincent | San Fernando Valley, Chatsworth, CA USA | One piece of literature says that once you select your pumpkin, make the vine grow in a U shape. Is the pumpkin supposed to be on the inside or the outside of the U? | 8/1/2003 10:23:17 AM |

            | kilrpumpkins | Western Pa. | Outside center, so the fruit will not grow onto the vine!

            | Brigitte | | The pumpkins get big "shoulders" on either side of the stem. If there's not a U in the vine, they'll grow right into the vine. | 8/1/2003 11:31:53 AM |

            | docgipe | Montoursville, PA | Loosen the vine now by eliminating secondaries if need be. Get it up and free for a minimum of two three feet on each side of the stem. Apply gentle "away from the pumpkin pressure". I am using stakes and cloth with bungee cord pulls. Very gentle long term is the way. To much pressure and you will be introduced to an awefull snap sound. Been there and done that too. :) | 8/1/2003 12:38:49 PM |
