            | KYGROWER | KENTUCKY | I just came in from putting up shade structure over the Garrell fruit. I broke a few leaves in the process, ooops. I couln't wait till tom to take another measurement, so I took one tonight. day 15 and 1/2 (7:00p.m.) cc is 58inches. That's 3 inches during the day. I sure hope she holds together and doesn't blow! I've quit fertilizing, but it rained a little yesterday, and got a very good rain this morning. I'm concerned she's going to blow! Or am I just over-reacting? I also put a fan under the shade structure. Should I slow her down, and if yes, how?? (cut a secondary? some roots?) please let me know. I know why she's growing so fast now, I think, The other two fruits out the main farther have aborted! So all juice is going to this 1 fruit, and one on a seconday (out on secondary about 11ft.)2nd year at this, last year my biggest was either 98 or 108 lbs, can't remember. My goal this year is 3-400 lbs. I know i'm well on my way to this, I just don't want to loose it.

 here are stats:
 pollinated 7/16
day 2 8 inches in circ
day 7 17 inches in circ
 day 8 23
 day 9 26+
 day 10 30
 day 11 35
 day 12 41.5
 day 13 45.5
 day 14 49.5
 day 15 55 day 15 and 1/2 58

            | shazzy | Joliet, IL | stay consistent and hang on for the ride. i have hadhuge 2" rains again and again and ok so far. last
weekend 6" of rain in 1 and a half days freaked me out.
i have been doing good deeds, holding doors a second or 2
longer, trying to keep my patience with idiot drivers,
you name it. i am convincing myself good karma will
hold them together. the rational mind says this is
horseshit. but these things grow at irrational rates.
 lol.

            | KYGROWER | KENTUCKY | I forgot, I'm leaving tom morning, (friday) to go out of town for the weekend. I won't be back until very late sunday evening. I hope all goes well out in the patch. I'll get to have one last look in the morning before I leave. Heck I won't even have access to internet until I get back to check replys to this, and see how others are doing. Anyone want to do measurements for me while i'm gone and call me on cell phone? Kidding.Good luck all, and thanks,
 Mike

            | Don Quijot | Caceres, mid west of Spain | Mike, that fruit of yous is growing fast and consistently, you are going to have to change your goal for this year, at least multiply for two.
 Good luck!

            | MR. T. (team T) | Nova Scotia | kygrower i would stress consistancy to. especialy water. try to water every day quit a bit (not when it rains though) that way you should have consistant growth without blowing up. p.s make sure you have lots of slack in your vine everyday. you probably know all this anyway oh well. | 8/1/2003 8:18:55 AM |
