            | Petey | Iowa | i have a pumpkin that has been moving right along.....19 pounds the last 24 hours! but yesterday i found a little crack where the stem meets the vine, it wasnt there the day before! i used captan and a fan yesterday...its still leaking and the bad spot is getting a little larger. so today i cleaned the bad spot with a old toothbrush and put a fan on it again.....it still not getting any better! WHAT SHOULD I DO! i really dont want to loose this one? | 7/27/2003 7:45:24 PM |

            | Cavassim Pumpkins Brazil | Brazil | I think you can use another product more effective, like Benlate. | 7/27/2003 9:21:55 PM |

            | Cowpie | Ontario | On the plus side the area of the crack is the thickest point of the pumpkin wall. Double check that you have loosened off the vines that go into the pumpkin stem. Nine times out of ten the problem is caused by too much stress from the pumpkin trying to lift too much weight. Support the vines on both sides of the pumpkin stem and cut off secondary rooting 3 feet either side of the pumpkin stem. You should be fine. I hope you get a personal best :0) | 7/28/2003 12:25:07 AM |
