I have a pumpkin that is 45" around 16 days after pollination on the main vine. Another pumpkin selfed about five feet away on the same vine. Should I cut it? Also I have had two other pollinations on a secondary vine that didint take, so I have Only one pumpkin now. Is it wise to have only one pumpkin per plant? Will the second pumpkin on the main vine effect the growth of my big one? I think I should cut it off. Thanks for the input.

I've realized that the second (smaller) pumpkin on the main vine doesn't affect the first one growth at least at the first two weeks of its life, while the first one affects and much to the other. I've kept one little fruit on the mains after the keeper, more ore less 15 days, just for safety. And I have to say that my keepers don't come from the first females to be pollinated on the main, as I culled up to 3-5 set fruits in each plant before the nicests were selected. Actually I am glad I was lucky enough to get so many succesful pollination on every plant.
