What is a good growth rate after day 20?

Some would say you have used twenty of fifty days following pollination. Divide the added weight you need to meet your goal by thirty. The patch condition, the grower's experience and the location plus weather and just plain luck will all figure into your answer.

day 20 72" cir. 121 lbs.
day 25 99.5" cir. 238 lbs.
day 30 116.5" cir. 413 lbs.
day 35 130.5" cir. 570 lbs.

day 70 164.75" cir. 1058 lbs.

EST weights from the 2003 Stellpflug chart. Weighed in very light....HOT weather probably the culprit. Hot weahter seems to equal shorter and faster growth and lighter pumpkin. slow and steady wins the race!

I guess mine must be a "little guy" *grin* It measured 50 inches on day 20 yesterday)...but today, day 21 it measures 55 inches in cir. But I am pleased with it, considering last year I did not have a pumpkin set until August. It has rained all week. The sun finally came out today so maybe it will grow faster now.

Circ measurements alone can be misleading. It does not take the height into account. Short, flat can have a big circ but weigh light. I only go by OTT. With absolutely no disrespect inferred.. look at the 950.4 Boyton. Big numbers, but fell short. Mr Boyton ,I am curious, Did you only use circumference or do you also have OTT measurements. If you used OTT I would rather see those numbers as they are more real to me.I am also a hot weather grower so I also feel your pain as to try to grow with 100+f days. Ours taped to 880 lb but weighed in at 758.5 lb (-15%)so I know how it feels. By the way to those of you who kindly shared your growth records what was the "day number" at harvest? the same day as the last measurement or was it later? A day? a week?

Hey thanks for all the info. Joe P thanks for that chart. Looks like right now i am close to those numbers. Now if i can just keep it going. i really like the way that 1024 looks and the way it does in the heat here. I know i want to grow it again next year...Greg

Robert,
I posted the circumferences as a reference tool. My estimated weights and most likely all others, are from the OTT measurements. The final numbers on the 1024 at day 86 were 160- 99- 100 = 359 inches for an estimated weight of 946 pounds..Joe P.

Robert,
I sure know the pain of weighing light as you do, and no doubt many other growers...... there I was estimated at 1058 pounds with seed stock that normally weighs heavy..... just hoping for 1001 pounds! Very disapointing to say the least. But I was very happy considering my goal was to top 660. As a result I am keen to give it my best shot again this time.
The heat really knocked around my fruit on the 762 Neuville too.....it was estimated at 798 but only weighed 620 pounds......guess lots of days over 100F and days at 115F just don't make for heavy to the chart fruit.
I will be doing all I can to combat the heat this season. Having a better misting system for starters, and also foliar feeding of calcium and trace elements. Just to make sure the plant isn't missing out on anything that may help fruit grow. Also less shock absorber fruit......possibly one set on a secondary past the chosen one.

Good luck and may your fruit weigh heavy this year....Ben
