I was wondering if anyone knew the Al Eaton growth formula that helps to estimate what a fruit will be at the end of the season. Thanks, Steve

Steve im not positive, but you take the average daily weight gain divide it by 2 or cut it in half and multiply it by the # of days you have left till the weighoff and add that number to the existing weight. This works best after a pumpkin has reached it peak growth for the year.
Example:
45 days left to the weighoff.......the pumpkin is 500lb now.......average weight gain is 22 lb a night.......11x45=495....so 495 added to the weight as it stands now..500+495=995.This formula works great and is pretty darn close.Hope this helped.John

I usually multiply by the number of growing days left as fruit dont grow all the way up untill weighoff here in WI. So, i choose sept 15th-20th as the last growing day which is usually about right considering our fall weather.

Speculation, proper management and prayer plus luck, good and bad certainly, makes this a sport of undeniable proportions.

Why I already have myself convinced my baby looks like the next pumpkin champion of the world. Fun 'aint it?
