I have never had anyone answer this question. Last year, my pumpkin had smalll drops on it that looked like tree sap. The pumpkin was normal. This year, my pumpkin is 8 days old, growing well. This morning, I found 4 or 5 small areas near the stem end of the pumpkin with clearish white stuff on it. Almost like wax. Like small drops again mostly. I assume it came from the pumpkin just like my sap stuff last year. What the heck is this stuff anyway? Jim

Jim,
Its sap stuff.
Watch out for leaves rubbing against the pumpkin they make small cuts that can cause this.

watch your fingernails while measuring too. I accidently made a little mark today in one of my pumpkins. Instantly "sap stuff" oozed out.

Yeah Duster,
Also make sure your hands are clean and free from dust (no joke intended) as the tiny particles of dust will scratch the skin and make it "bleed"... I know ...been there done that kinda thing.

A pair of white cotton gloves should help prevent self damage.

Actually this can be considered a good sign. The sap droplets come from small tears in the pumpkin skin cause by the pumpkin growing faster than the outer skin can. You must be doing something right. It's not something to be overly concern about. I'd just leave the sap alone and let it do it's job. Keep up the good work.
