I have two pumpkins on secondarys that were pollinated on june 17. They are both est about 135 pounds. They are gaining about 8 pounds a day. They are side by side. But they only have 3 inches between them. How far do I have to move them apart from eachother so they wont grow into eachother.

I'd remove the slower grower of the two. You're gonna need a lot more room!

It's got to really hurt to cut off a 135 pound pumpkin in mid July!!

It hurts especially when the record in Arizona is only a little over 50 pounds. Isn't there a way to keep both of them. Can you move one over to the other side of the vine to give it more room?

Take the slowest,,you'll have the Az. record,,and will break it a second time in same season..Something to smile about,,and a valuable lesson learned in the AG world.. ^_^

Congratulations David for doing such a great job. Especially for a first year. Just think what you will do next year. And if you keep it up you'll have a 500 lber or bigger this year. Grow'em Big, Diane

They are on different vines so I up rooted the slow growers vine and moved it a few feet. I figure if it gets bigger than 300 pounds one will need to be cullled to make more room.

i think you'll be fine by the looks of your pics and the direction there growing. if i were you i'd keep both for as long as you can in case one crashes on you. but if they are on the same plant and you really want to go big cut one off but not before setting a new one on for a few days for cutting one of may cause the other one to blow up without a shock absorber.
