Placed freshly cut males in seperate glasses of water. How many hours/days can they last. If male flower starts to droop is the pollen inside history?

1) that is a tough question to give an exact answer. It depends on temp., humidity, etc... I know many people have successfully kept flowers overnight. and I have heard of people going 2-3 days, but I'm skeptical. Still other using frozen pollen or pollen frozen with liquid nitrogen... days/weeks later. The easy anwser, which i'm sure you already know, is don't use them unless you have too. and if you have to- well then you have to... and it may or may not work. 2) I don't know. sorry i know you'd like a better answer but i don't think we've figured it out yet. best wishes gordon

i will be bee-keeping an accurate record this year of my pollen usage, as i have often wanted to recall how old the pollen was once i got around to using it. some of the pollinations in '02 were from 8:30 am to as late as 2pm...so now is a good time to start keeping track! 'pal

I figure my cut males in the fridge are no longer viable when the pistil is smooth, no visible grains..usually 2 days or so.
Does it work? So far, so good.
