i need a quick reply from someone in the know, if possible, as i'm trying to get out of town in the a.m for a few days of fishing. i'm using systemic merit75. i'm about to use immunox fungicide. at the suggested dosage, 1oz for the fungicide per gal, and tremor figured out 1 tsp of merit for my small 14x10 patch and whatever water amount i was comfortable with, do i increase it for the 40 gallons of water i give the plant or am i just supposed to wait for the product to do its thing and then water as usual? in other words can i give the suggested dosage and then water with my 40 gallons? is my question understandable?

You can & should go ahead with the watering after applying the Merit. The idea is for the plants roots to pick it up & translocate the Merit through the plant for you.
But don't water any foliar pest sprays (such as the fungicide) until the spray residue has completely dried on the leaves (1-4 hours depending on humidity & temperature).
Have fun fishing. We're going up to Maine for a week on Friday for just the same thing. Hope we come home with some great stories! I like to leave the fish behind.

that was quick steve, thanks so much. also, can i switch from merit to ortho systemic insect killer (says on label it was formerly isotox) containing acephate 8% and fenbutatin-oxide .5%, or should i stay with the merit at this point? it appears to be a product that is sprayed and if its a go could i mix the fungicide with it?

Stunner,
This year we're staying "Down East" on Lake Cathance in Cooper (population 145 in Washington Co).
For the past 32 years we summered on McGrath Pond in Oakland (next to Waterville) in the Belgrade lakes region. The cottage was sold by our friend (the builder) to a nice family we kept renting from the past 5 years. Last year they sold it to some folks who are turning it into a year rounder. I should have bought it but the septic is toast.
Towing up the boat & staying the week. I-95 to Bangor. Then 9 & 1 east almost to the end. Any growers near by? Is Bristol along the way? Cool up your way this AM!
Vine, The Ortho systemic (containing acephate) is not a root absorbed systemic. It will penetrate the leaves & so should applied there for best results. Let it dry on the foliage before watering. The overspray that hits the soil won't be absorbed.
I think you're OK mixing the 2 but do a quick jar test first & read both llabels entriely just to be sure. I don't have a copy of the Ortho label to read.
