I sprayed my seven plants with Daconil (Ortho) last Saturday 7/12. The leaves are turning yellow and curled on the edges (all plants). I have severe damage which probably has ended my season. I reread the Ortho bottle which states up to 1 tps per gallon per 200 squares. I did that. I sprayed mid afternoon with sun but the temperature being in the low eighties. No instructions or warnings on the Ortho bottle as to its application.

I have never had a burn with Daconil, but do tend to spray after work since its the only time I have. Dave

Daconil at high rates on drought stressed turf makes for brown fairways in short order. It could happen with pumpkins too.
Jim, We still on for tomorrow? say 10 ish may be?

make sure whether you used teaspoon (tsp) or tablespoon (tbsp) There is a three times difference.

Whenever applying fungicides, always apply when the temps are low. Fungicides are 'drying agents' thus, if it is too hot, they can actually dessicate the leaves. Usually anything over 75-80 degrees is too hot.

usually spray sevin/daconil mix. I always try to do on overcast days or late in the evening, Sun will burn the edges at least. No matter how light I go. they'll pull through just look like old leaves. Good Luck!

As pretty much a newbie in the chemical field I read the bottle and no advise/warning as to spraying the daconil. I do spray my sevin, malathion, etc. close to dark so as not to kill the bees. Fungicides didn't seem to be a threat against bees so I sprayed during the day. After the fact and once the damage was caused I went on line and found not to spray daconil at higher temps or in the sunshine. My damage is done because Ortho didn't have the courtesy to properly advise the user. My intent here is to warm those who are reading this so as not to do what I did.
I've been sprinkling for several days so as to reduce the damage.

Well Jim's dead on. I saw the damage today first hand.
And Thanks to Jim & his lovely wife JoAnn (hope the knee mends soon!!!) for the coffee & cookies. Wonderful hosts & people as usual!
The real crime is that Jim's got Pumpkins on that are allready taping over 100". But he noted a slight reduction in size today. This would confirm his belief that with the damage to the foliage (see my photo diary later when they come up), the pumpkins will not recieve the nourishment the need for a little while.
I feel they will recover in time. But the waiting is going to be miserable.
Keep at it Jim. You're looking at a new personal best this year anyway I think.

My neighbours husband sprayed her cucumber plants with sevin. They turned chalk white and all were killed. He sprayed during a hot sunny day. I personally will not use the stuff...ever. I use Rotenone, an organic dust.

Desert Storm,
I would think that the Sevin misture was too stong. A proper mix might only show a slight haze
