I just polinated at 12.5 feet on my main vine 3 days ago. This fruit is in the best position on the plant and I really want this one to be my choice. Two questions. I trained the vine in a curve correctly. In doing so, my pumpkin is in a 45 degree angle upward from the vine instead of on the ground. The stem is about 2.5 inches and pretty thick. Will the pumpkin come down on it's own ok or should I do anything special to help get it down safely? Second, at 3 days it is 7 inch circumference and I noticed a very tiny slit or cut right where the blossom end is. The cut is going horizontal from blossom end to stem end on one of those faint color lines. It's very tiny right on the blossem end. Is this a concern or should it be ok? thanks. Jim

Question 1: I had the same question a week or so ago. Gravity will do the job of bringing the little bugger down to the ground. The stem will get longer and thicker in the next few days, so your pumpkin should have plenty of support. Mine was more than 45 degrees looking upward, and now, at day 8, it's peacefully resting on its styrofoam bed on the ground.

Don't worry about micro splits around the blossem,i,ve had the before, they heal in a week or two if not sooner.Might want to dust them with some dry Captions just incase.Hope this helps.John
