I have two almost that close but they grow on a pile so the roots have more space. Each plant is 250 sq feet now but it looks that they lost some power.

two of mine now are about 4 feet apart. As long as you have good soil I wouldn't think it would be a problem. but if you have a choice next time i'd separate them a little more.

Jeff, 2 of our state fair plants are that close, and they seem to be doing just fine now. Both vines are about 20 feet long. Also last year I planted my 382, and 503 that close, and got 610 and 682 respectively with very little lovin'.

I've got some that close growing in opposite directions, but they look like CR**E because of all the rain.

i would never grow them that close but you can never tell until you try. i would look at it this way that your doubling your chance of a real good pumpkin but killing your chance at a great one, only my 2 cents.

Well Jeff ....I did the same thing. Just didn't have the heart to cull when both close plants were growing separately in opposite directions. I did, however have to cull 3 out of another patch and 2 out of section no. 1. They were just too close! Both plants are still not interfering with each other...so we shall see how it goes. Good luck.

I have my best 2 back to back about 4 feet apart. And Jim Kuhns 1020 and 854 were less than that. So dont worry .
