I have one plant that has a flower at every single leaf junction along the main. Trouble is, they're all male.

The question: Is this plant gay with no chance of reform? Or can female flowers later develope at the existing leaf junctions? If so, should I be castrating the males to hasten the process?

Gay pumpkins! Jeez! What next?

I also think you just need to wait a bit. They'll show up but not at the current junctions though, they will be along.

(Upon reflection I also think I can probably misspell Brigettes name about no more times before she calls me on it. Glad my name aint Don, jeez!)

I have a plant that has what appears to be a male flower with a long stem and a little bitty gumball sized pumpkin behind it. All the other males and females on the plant appear normal. Does that make it a hermaphrodite? I'll try to get a pic posted to the diary when it opens, should be within the next few days. As for the all male plant, wait. The girls should show up eventually, it may just be a late bloomer so to speak.

My 634,5 Kilbert 01 set the first female flower at 13 ft, till now the total number of flowers is 4; I was worried about the low number of female but I noticed that in this plant the percentage of aborts was low compared to other plants with high number of flowers.

I have two plants of the same make and model.
One has ten pumpkin sets and the second plant has yet to give a female flower.
Both have approx. the same growing medium so maybe it's in the genes.

hahaha....you all crack me up. Gay pumpkins...what next??? LOL. Mine are all "straight" thank goodness. Have you used any of its male blossems to pollinate? (surely some females will soon be forthcoming)

I had a mutant flower once... it looked like it was 1/2 female 1/2 male ? I pollinated it but it didn't take.
I figured it was a female cross dresser lesbian flower.

DS, So far only one female is developing. But she'll have her hands full when her time is due next week that's for sure. I couldnt have picked a better spot for her so here's hoping the squirrels leave them alone this year.

Looking around some more this morning revealed some of the vines have as many as 2 & 3 males all coming from the same leaf juncture. Talk about testosterone!

Fortunately my son's school has lots of both & I got to try my hand at "polinating" there this morning. No gay pumpkins there at least.
