Ok, I must admit. I have grown Ag's for 6 years now and I have never had two pumpkins set on a main before. This time I do. Both, as strange as it may sound opened on the same day on leaf junction apart(approx. 1 ft.) going in opposite directions. They both look great. So my question is.... Have any of you ever done well or know of anyone who has done well with two pumpkins on the same main.
Thanks in advance.

The Sweden record had the same case as yours. Two big ones opposite sides and one leaf junction apart in the main vine. You can find a post from him here, but have to look for it. Also he has a web page with pictures.
Personnally I would never let them grow together. Actually I have 2-3-4 pumpkins set on my main vines and plan to reduce them to one soon, as far as I noticed that the closest to the base grow faster than the others.

Brad - I would think you'd run into trouble with the two fruit being so close to each other. I don't think there is enough room. I remember a few years back Rocky Rockwell. had two nice fruit both on the main about 3 ft apart on opposite sides. They grew into each other and the main between them became tight. It's always interesting and fun to do some vine adjustments by moving a large fruit. good luck

whenever i have had two on opposites sides of the vine at virtually the same distance, one of them always has aborted, and the other has gone on to be the survivor. mother nature doin' her thing, i guess! 'pal
