I just pulled a 'rogue' pumpkin that must have grown from seed the previous year. I noticed on the roots were hundreds of aphids....I think this could be one of the reasons my plant seems to be laging. i just did a soil drench with 'sevin', but is there anything else I can do???, (I'm assuming they aren't a good thing:(

They look like aphids!! Live birth and everything,(swollen backs, 6 legs, green sap suckers) If they're not aphids, they're a close cousin and they're sucking on my roots...I'll take a picture tonight. I was in complete agreement with the 'vegatative feeders'...until now, I'm shocked!

I didn't think aphids attacked the roots of anything (even grapes) till now, and trust me they're having an effect. The root past the colony clusters are definitely doing poorly....No more 'secret weapons' eh Mr.T;)
