Is there a secondary close enough to train into a new main?

southern

Appalachian Mtns.

I'd cut, Captan, and do a secondary if it blew that bad.

My 922.5 did it about a month ago. The flat vine doubled, then one of them "blew up" just like yours. I cut it back and used the other as my "main vine". Seemed to have worked fine.

when you say (I cut it back and used the other as my "main vine) do you mean you cut back the exploded part and let the main keep on growing?

Keith...Yes, that is exactly what I did to the Emmons 922.5.
It now has three females already pollinated on that new main vine. :>)

Sooo Stan...can you leave more than one pumpkin to mature on one vine? I was wondering about that. Do you keep pollinating for awhile and cull little pumkins later? I now have two pollinated (On separate vines) on my 640 Gardner. It is a huge plant. I am going to post pics of it in my diary asap.
