I'm growing the 856 Hester* (895 Hester* sibbed), the fruit started out green and now (three days after pollination) are every bit as yellow as the rest of my pumpkins (not even a suggestion of green on the fruit). Does this mean I've got a pumpkin? Having never grown a squash before I have no idea.

Well...ask me in another week. Yellow means two things this early...its an unpolinated or aborting squash, or a icky pumpkin. "Every bit as yellow as the rest" would tend to lean towards a pumpkin and not a squash aborting if its still shiney and growing. Thats a bummer when you want squash...but very common...lets face it,---some throw green, some just throw up.......G

It's shiney! Well if its not going to be green I can at least hope for a dark orange.
