my squash plant, 990 Hebb*, is doing great... but I didn't enter the contest... i figured that way it would help ensure that it would do well.

My 895.5 Hester is roaring across the patch, I have had several males open up already. I have a pea sized female on the main about 8 feet out I am eyeing for pollinating in the next few days.

Let's see, three responses and one isn't in the contest.
Diane, you must be being sarcastic due to the overwhelming response....?
There are around 40 persons entered in this contest. So, by the look of the responses, I would say that everyone is very busy in the patch.
Expect more feedback over the weekend. :) Brent W.

Oh, I forgot my update.
Females are in sight, but still over a week away. No substantial growth at all ove the past week due to unseasonably cool weather.
Overall, plants are looking good.

My 895 Hester plant is doing great, I have found a female, looks like it might open at around 7ft out. Just might have to set it. Looks not to be opening though for at least 1 more week....Kyle

Diane, My 895.5 Hester vine is about 19' long..should pollinate in first week of July. 990 Hebb suffered during the vandal attack but is about 14'. Not sure which other plants will throw green..they are back at around 10'-12'.

Yeah!!! Today I found two females and some males that will open at the same time on my Hester. Actually I think people are doing better with the squash contest by what I have read in diaries. Congrats on the greenies, Diane
