I noticed that my plant is flagging under the heat of the day. I have holes chopped in the top of the hoop houses and the ends off. I will remove them altogether as soon as time allows.

How are others fairing? My 845 Nesbitt (same conditions) seems to be much more heat tollerant.

Thanks,

John

Yes same here my 840 is wilting very badly but my 845 Nesbitt is thriving along with my 735 Pukos and 685 Girgus They just love the heat.

P.S. Right now it feels about 95 degress in the sun here.

John, super hot here in New York now. My 845 Nesbitt is doing fine in the heat. It's probably my best plant. I would say the 845 is the best plant so far that I've ever had. Brian

John, I noticed your flaging 1337.6 in the pumpkin cam and was going to comment. "Man it looks like It needs an ice cold beer! " Hope it gets better when you remove the hoop house. How hot is it up there? 97 yesterday and 95 today here in Iowa and full sun... ouch! Fortunately all my plants are handleing it well with maybe the exception of my 1097.5 Beachy. It looks REALLY bad today but on the up side I pollinated a female on it today.... first one of the year.... woooo hooooo! Mike Frantz

North end of my house is full shade - reached 90 degrees today but we're on the coast. John's north of here but far enough inland that it probably got a good deal hotter.
I visited a grower yesterday who had 2 1337's going. Neither was wilting when I was there.

Our 845 Nesbitt does wilt a little, but not enough to justify concern. I'd say it likes the heat too. 17" growth in 36 hours. Haven't measured yet today, but I think you could actually see that bugger grow if you had absolutely no life at all. And it's starting to feel that way now what with checking on them all the time! LOL

My 845 Nesbitt is growing great with very little wilting. Its been 95 to 98 degrees here the last 4 days. How many other growers are growing the 845 Nesbitt?

I don't have an 845 anything or a 1337 but the plants I do have seem to handle the heat much better if i water them early in the morning for 1 1/2 hrs when its supposed to be hot and sunny. I leave for work at 5:45 am and set the sprinkler timer just befor I leave, a cheapie that i got at lowes for 10 bucks. A simple twist up the time you want and forget it. I dont know if its the water or the developing root system or just the plants themselves. we had mid 90's with 100 heat index and i came home to plants with virtually no wilt.
