my memory is so bad i hide my own easter eggs... question.. what are the best dimensoins for the christmas tree pattern? i'm thinking 24'wide and 24'long with a pumpkin set at 8 to 12 feet?? just want to be sure...

that's certainly a great patch size. If it were me and i had the space I'd go 30 to 35ft in lenght.

I'd recommend pollinating at least 10 feet out.

Cloud, In a 24 x 24 area, I would run the plant down the middle, and try to set fruit between 12 and 20 feet, and not before. I believe it is Drew Papez that gets the 1000 pound pumpkins with about 16 sq feet after the fruit. He likes all the plant before the pumpkin. And who can argue.

if i were you i wouldn`t try pollinating above the first pair of secondaries. finding a 35` ladder is hard enough but trying to support any 300 or 400lb fruit that high would be a real bitch. 8` high x 4` wide at the bottom is about the rite dimensions for Christmas trees at my house......Wow, 35` ceilings. no boogers up there!
