How does everyone keep their females isolated? Tying shut, baggies over them, etc. Just looking for ideas to figure out my own personal preference of how to do it.

Brigitte,
I use a thin piece of amish undergarment fabric with a rubber band. It would be comparable to a real thin cheese cloth. They are reusable and washable.

My wifes old nylon stockings. The fabric catches on the prickles on the outside of the flowers and holds well. Keeps the bees and bugs out, still allows for some air circulation. I collect them all year as she gets holes and runs in them, they still work fine for my purposes.

I use cheese cloth and or wifes nylons. I think if you use baggies it will cut the air supply off to the flower.

I close the females with masking tape also. It falls right off with the blossom after fruit set. I have also had problems with excessive moisture and humidity in baggies. Cheesecloth also works well, I have pieces cut 8"x10", wrapping once around and the cheese cloth "adheres" to itself.

yo, Brigitte, no one seems to like the zip-tie idea of mine, except me...lol i think maybe a hybrid of sandalfoot nylon stocking material that is secured to the female flower with a (wide-band) rubber band, and gives the flower some slack so it can open up yet breathe yet keep bugs out, would be a neat thing to try....maybe i will if i ever have any flowers this year...lol 'pal

I thought I had the ultimate device just the other day. I was standing in line at the marina parts counter waiting to throw more money into my hole in the water. I see some very nice straps with velcro closures. Had their name on them so I figure they're an advertising premium & therefore really cheap (or free???). still don't know what they're really for. Probably for sail boaters or something.
I don't know what made me more mad. The $14.95 flower closure or the wrong spark plugs the idiots charged me $3.50 a piece for. Today when I limped back down the river spewing smoke I vowed to strangle someone with that fabric thing.
Got the correct plugs for $2.00 each at Boaters World. My place was out of the right plugs & thought the substitute would work OK! Let the buyer beware they say.
Clothes pins it is then. Thanks Boily.
