Subject: severed a root

Was digging about 10 feet away from the stump and severed a pumpkin root. Will that severed pumpkin root regenerate or die as a result?

Thier are plenty more of those roots down in the ground it should not bother the plant at all. Al

It will make two in the healing each place you severed it. Now if you ringed the plant and cut off ten percent of the feeder roots it would be a real stress factor.
Within very carefully observed facts above ground you see new growth rapidly appear when you sever an unwanted vine or small fruit. The same happens underground. "0" disturbance is almost impossible. You have no problem to worry about.
