There's a thread on Mallorn by Pirate about pinching & it's influence on giberellins & auxins. As much as I want to comment there, I really dislike the format. What thoughts do we have on this subject here? Until now, I focused my plant hormone thoughts on the one I get from the bottle. Are any of the HH's using this technique that we know of?

I agree, I would love to see some talk on this subject. Sounds it can be helpful to us who lacks understanding on the subject.

I also read the threads, and dont like the format there. Thanks for bringin it up Steve. For those that may have missed it, basically it goes like this- When a plant begins producing flowers, there's a shift in the hormones it produces. An unflowered plant has a hormone called Auxin in the growing tips. THis promotes vigorous leaf and root growth. Good for the month of June. When flowers appear, there's a shift from Auxin production to Giberellic acid production. This slows down vegetative growth so the plant can focus on baby production. The theory is the more flowers you snip early on, the more auxin and less giberellic acid you will have, therefore stimulating greater root growth. Then as July approaches, you let the flowers develop, thereby stimulating shift to GA. Im going to look into this a little more and see if I can find some more details on this.

glad you brought it up also. I read the posts. very interesting idea. seems to make sence logically... the only think i would take execption to, by experience, is that I don't think these plants ever slow down in vegetative growth, even after multiple fruit sets.
