Cros

Circleville ,OH.

Im willing to trade 2-3" of rain for a few good days of sun. Ive never seen a spring with so many days of rain. I cant get enough dry days to finish tilling the patch. We have only had one time of 4 days without rain since the first of May. Maybe those of us from Ohio will have to find a giant strain of rice to grow!!The only good thing is I havent had to pump any water this year... Cros

I have yet to use my drip line system because of so much rain. Empty barrels, no sun.

We put our underground drip line system in wondering if we were nuts. Learning once again: The only consistancy in gardening is the absolute inconsistancy one deals with.

Hey Diane remind us again why cactuses grow where you live? Got to be rough on the electricity bill keeping those misters going. Shannon

The bill for our misting system here in Chico,Ca (100F today) is cheap. All the expense around here is for the fridge to to keep all my beer cold!

Shannon,

It's So Hot That...

- The birds have to use potholders to pull the worms out of the ground.
- The potatoes cook underground, and all you have to do to have lunch is to pull one out and add butter, salt, and pepper.
- Farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying hard-boiled eggs.
- The cows are giving evaporated milk.
- A sad Arizonan once prayed, "I wish it would rain, not so much for me 'cause I've seen it, but for my 7-year-old."

Hey Az folks - I was checking the weather last night on line.

Was it really still in the 90s at 9 p.m. last night?

Just thinking about that DRY heat makes me sweat.

One of the AZ Myths is that we have DRY heat. People have planted so many trees, yards, and put in so many pools, small lakes/ponds, and canals, that we have a lot of humidity in July and August. We don't have a dry heat. Our monsoon's are in July and August.
LOL

Noah's Flood
A visitor to Arizona once asked, "Does it ever rain out here?"
A rancher quickly answered "Yes, it does. Do you remember that part in the Bible where it rained for 40 days and 40 nights?"
The visitor replied, "Yes, I'm familiar with Noah's flood."
"Well," the rancher puffed up, "We got 'bout two and a half inches during that spell."

i don't know azkikn... I've live in the mid-west and the east coast and in the summer when it was 90°+ F and 90+ % humidity .....and in Utah and visited AZ in the 100° + F heat ... if you ask me there is a hugh difference. give me +10 degrees and the dry heat over the humidity any day.

10 days over 100, 10 days under 90, 10 days over 100, etc. etc. etc.the only humidity around here comes from the swimming pool water dripping off my shorts onto a hot sidewalk going back and forth from pool to bud lite cooler. heeeee haaawww!!!

ON THE WEATHER! You all should check out the Southern Applachian Growers. Their grandpappys left them with specialized fittings and instructions for piping the sunshine in and the moonshine out.

Their problem is another: that of finding a good patch. One should first burn off an acre of jackpine. If corn follows the land has not been at rest long enough. West Va. crop rotation was at least ten years of corn and fifty years of jack pine.

The one good thing about hot and dry is you can use irrigation to make things normal. With all this rain all we can do is set inside and watch the rain fall.(and spend more time on B.P. of course). Im sure in a few weeks we'll be begging for rain. Good news is they say 3-4days of sun this weekend so I guess someone is sending it our way.!!!!!
