Since I have a lot of them this year, I wonder what you can expect from pollinating them. How far away from the main would be a good spot and what was your personal best with a pumpkin on a secondary vine?

My experience is that secondary fruit initially grow really fast, faster than main vine fruit. But eventually they slow down and main vine fruit pollinated at the same time will end up growing faster. I'd recommend pollinating fruit that are on secondaries close to the stump of the plant, at a distance of 8-12 feet out or so.
Largest fruit I have grown on a secondary was 300-400lbs.

Last year I grew 2 pumpkins, a 642 on a main vine and a 640 on a secondary vine. 2 different plants, but about the same size so I would say that the potential is there for both. John
