I have 3 pumpkins at the 3-4 leaf stage. On all the pumpkins, the intial set of two leaves are brown on the very eged of them ( about a 1/16th of an inch worth). Need to know if this is a problem and how I stop it. Dont want to lose these puppies. Live in Colorado, transplanted about 5 days ago, but the problem had already started when I transplanted. The plants are about 25 days old now. They are in direct sun, it has been about 80 to 90 here for two weeks, with lows around 50. Thanks for any help.

Im no expert but I think It is normal for the seed leaves and first true leaf to die.

that's a pretty small amount, just around the edges of the seed leaves....but if it DOES get worse and/or starts affecting the true leaves, then i would start to worry...
i am not sure what the actual problem would be on the seed leaves, unless the soil is really wet, or even really dry----i'll have to research it someday but i think the survival game begins with the loss of what was there first...like the plant will dispose of parts of itself to save the rest of it, or something---i hope i can find an e-address of a site dedicated to leaf problems...lem me check.

Thanks for all the input, the cucurbit site is really good. From that I think my problem might be to much water? Who would of thunk it. I am not certian but I will cut back and see what happens. Thanks!
