Is it true that the main vine grows the opposite direction that the first true leaf opens up pointing to or is it the direction that the back of the first true leaf points to?? I planted about 20 giants here today in western New York and want to know if I put them in correct or backward- Thanks Tom

I'll try to explain it in a clear way, but don't know whether I will get it.
I've learnt that when the first leaf is very little, just pointing up between the cots, the point end tells you where the main vine will go, because it will open and stay on the opposite side.
Once it is openning, the back of the first true leaf will be on the opposite side to the way where the main vine will go in most of the cases.

Thanks Don - If I understand you correctly, it sounds as though the main vine runs away from the open side of the first true leaf - everyone agree? Tom
