Is anyone else growing the 953 Langevin. It germinated fine for me. However the cotyledon don't look right as they are emerging from the soil. They look somewhat crinkled. I don't know if this is a problem or not. Any thoughts?
I'll try to post a picture later tonight.

I'm growing one... germinated fine... just sprouted last night. It looks great so far. Sounds like yours is about at the same stage mine is. if i remember i'll take a picture of it tonight.
if yours leaves are just emerging from the soil i bet they'll open up, flatten out and be fine.
Hopefully both will do well and we can compare through out the season.

Mine sounds like the same as yours, it was quick to germinate. Shed the seed shell.( say that fast three times)..LOL. Now the cotyledon is just kind of taking its time to get going. I know Don had thought the seeds from this pumpkin were toast because a bunch of the seeds had already germinated. Maybe we were just unlucky. :( Shannon

Here is a picture I posted of the cotyledon. It's a bit fuzzy, but I think you can get the idea. Let me know and I'll try to get a better picture.

How long did you give it before you gave up on the seed? I ask because I was planning to give up on my 920 Cole after 8 days of nothing. However, a heavy hitter e-mailed me and said it took 2 weeks for three separate 920's they planted this spring. I held off on discarding it and now, on day 12, it has germinated.

I haven't totally given up on the seed yet. I'll wait to see what the first true leaf looks like. The seed germinated fine. The cotyledons just look strange.

The coyts on my 953 didn't look right after coming out of the soil. But they took shape after a few days. I put it in the garden about a week ago. the first true leaves are starting and the plant look good. Chris

Steelydave-
From looking at the picture you posted, I agree with your assesment. something definately wrong with the cots, and only time will tell if the plant will be ok.
hows the plant doing ?
I am posting some pictures of my 953 & 865 Mettler in my diary - 953 looks good even though it lost one cot. 865 is showing signs of life after it looked really bad and I almost gave up on it.
hope it recovers for you !

Gordon, the cots still look odd, but I think I see the first leaf forming. I'm going to plant it, along with another and see how they develop. I'll decide in a few weeks what to do. Thanks for the information.
