I am sterlizing my Garden dirt to mix with my Seed Starting soil. I am using a small Barbaque to uses as the sterlizer. How long do you leave the dirt in the Barbee to insure complete sterilazation.

Spread less than 4" deep @ 180 degrees F for 30 minutes. It smells absolutely awful. I don't recommend doing this indoors at all. Don't let the soil go over 200*F as permanant destruction of soil organic matter will result.

Water,I don't know what your barbee looks like but if it is a grill with heat in under you will probably need to stir the soil to stop what is in the bottom from burning.Like cooking a burger,if you didn't turn it over the bottom would burn and the top be raw.My soil takes on a grey look when burnt. Also make sure the soil is damp as heat will transfer much better then.
