Happy season all but I guess I'm worried now. I planted my first plant outside on Apr. 30 and have planted 5 more plants since then. These plants were too big for their pots so they had to go in the ground. They are protected in their own little greenhouse and seem to be doing OK. Will I suffer for pushing the season???????

you did plant a bit early and think that the last expected frost in your area has either passed or is coming up very shortly while here in walton our last frost is a few weeks away last year may 16th we had snow while your plants are in greenhouses they should be ok should the weather turn for the worst and a second problem could arise in late season depending on when you set fruit you could end up with a mature fruit on the vine in late august this would be ok if you have a local fair that you want to enter that fruit in but if you want to enter in gpc or other official weigh offs the 1st saturday of october is a long way off not to mention a big jack-o-lantern for halloween

My last frost last year was May 22, quite late for us. With the mini-greenhouse and a light bulb inside the temp remains 20 degrees above outside at night. Randy as I'm a newbie I didn't realize there is a definite growing season.
I thought the longer the season the more pounds. I'm trying to learn. Thanks

hey capt, Randy is right your gonna have to sit on mature pumpkin for over a month...if there great seeds try and set a pumpkin far out on the vine,so your pollinate date is closer to july.....or start new seeds...still got time

Hey Capt.

White Plains huh? I go there several times a week. Got a store there. Send private email if you want to hook up some time. There are a lot of growers here in CT with a couple in FF. Co. You're the first I know of in So. Westchester. I have more seeds than I can grow & some young starts that won't be planted if you're interested.

capt,
you seem to have learned a few things as you know when your last frost date is and to use a greenhouse with heat you just got the itch to grow a biggie it might be a good idea if you can hook up with steve and have him give you a few ideas on how to improve your patch for next year or even a few tips for this year in any case good luck and grow em big

Capt. Jim is a fine grower indeed! Got out to meet him today. I hope Jim shares a few of his "secrets" on his own cause I'll not tell without permission!
And wouldn't you know it? I've known his neighbor a few doors down for years. Installed his lawn & irrigation system for him. Small world getting smaller with this internet.

Jim,
Thanks again for the Peanut bush. My son was exstatic & thanks you! It's allready in the ground. Protect from frost I suppose. (is that OK? I never grew peanuts before.) And how should we treat the seeds? Anything special I should know?

Check your email later for the ProMax instructions & some Merit info.

It was a pleasure meeting you & the Mrs. Hope to see you both again soon.
