Well something or someone broke the stem completely off about an inch above soil level.@#%$!!*&$*###@!$%....will it grow back? I dont have another 840 seed so if it doesnt grow back i'll have to withdraw from the contest. Guess i'll start my 845 Nesbitt tonight and go with it if the 840 dies. I had the plant sitting outside on the picnic table by the garden harding off so i really cant say what happened. Maybe i'll give "Dick Tracy" a call....

Sorry to hear that about the 840. Maybe you can write Ken and see if he can rush you another one.
Good luck with it. Mike Frantz

Use the sticky tape or sticking plaster to hold two parts near to themself. Sometimes it works.
  PS My 840 germinated yeasterday!

Shawn, just a thought here. It doesn't take much wind to catch those big seed leaves & snap a stem off. If it broke off below the seed leaves, it probably won't come back.

Shawn: I have broken the stem before & put them back together & buried break deep. They have mended & grown. Worth a try.

Well i started my 845 on Friday and it broke ground Sunday and its looking good today, so i will go with it for this year. I'm afraid even if i was to mend the 840 plant that it would be severly stunted and would not produce very well. Sorry Ken, Mike and Dave. I'll give the contest a try again next year. Good luck for all who's in the contest this year....you would of really needed it if i was still in...hahahaha.....just kidding. Have fun and grow a monster!

Shawn: Just for the record, my 945 was grown on a plant that had the stem broken 7/8 off during transplant into garden. It stayed & its sib was pulled from same mound when the damaged one started outgrowing the sib by a inch a day in vine growth. Just shows these plants are survivor's and will surprise you.

In the 840 contest can you grow the pumpkin on another plant and use the 840 for the male pollination only?

Sorry to hear you are out. The day is still young, you could try to get another seed. Maybe someone will see your post and rush mail you one!
AZKIKN....No! LOL! The pollinating plant has ZERO affect on the growing pumpkin, only its seeds.
