I was thinking white when i read this, you know when you wear a white shirt, they seem to be pretty cool. White reflects light pretty good? Black asborbs the heat?

seems to me that if you're gonna shade something, use dark material-- and thick! if it were white, it would have to be thicker, or not much sun will be shaded from...i see that all the time--"here's my shade structure" and it's just a sheet on posts--whatever works for you, but shade means SHADE---if you use the black material, i would just hafta say to keep a little further away from the actual fruit a few more inches! although labor intensive, i've used 1/4-inch plywood 4X4 mounted atop
4 garden stakes about 4 feet high, with hinges on two of the posts--i will progress to using cloth around it also this year--on the AGGC, look at the shade mechanism for the
656 Bhaskaran, 723 Bhaskaran---veddy nice! 'pal
