I was just looking through my seed library trying to decide on what to grow, and got to wondering what everyone else was growing this season? I will go with 6 plants and for sure will be growing the 1260 and 580 Weir (for Crosses), the 651 Gadberry, the 840 Kenny D. and from their it's a toss up......

I'll have to tip my hat and wish the best of luck to a dear friend on here. For her to have a great season and to have a big pumpkin of at least 800lbs. That Special and dear friend is Polka Dot. It will be great to see what both of us can do with the 790 Daletas

940 Mombert 98, 1026 Holland, 306 Michalec 02, 922.5 Emmons, (if anyone can keep them from growing too fast it's me,) 705 Mettler, 963 Stucker, 746 Franek 01, (this one has no history, but could be the biggest sleeper out there. 895.5 Hester, 837 Thorson and if I can squeeze it in, an 831 Zunino. I'll start some of my own 583's for backups. I'm still waiting for it to stop raining long enough for the soil to dry out enough to till. If we don't catch a break soon I'll be getting a late start. I may not have enough time to tend all of those well, but it will help me determine which ones are the most aggressive and I should have something to show for each of the clubs weighoffs this fall.

Ron H, why would you grow so many? Twelve plants then cull nine of them? What a waste of good seeds. I only will start five in the house and pick the best four. But maybe you have a reason I never heard of

Brat, if there's one person who can screw up starting a seed indoors in a pot, it's me. I am very confident in my ability to start seeds outdoors where they will be grown. The roots will never be disturbed, & the plants will never get leggy.....no chance of transplant shock.
The top plant listed is the one I want to grow, & the 2nd plant listed is the primary backup if the first seed has a problem. Most of the backups I have 2 or more seeds, so I can always plant one again next year if someone does well with that seed.......& those Hoffman seeds, well, the're a dime a dozen in this house! lol!

Ron, I'm with you 100%. I just "wasted" 120 seeds for a germination test....LOL. The good news is that I was 114 of 120 in 28 hours. which is 95%. I wasnt going to even check on them last night. They werent sanded or anything. Just a test. Will throw them all out after I see what the seedlings look like.
