Time is almost up to join in on these exciting Pumpkin (840 Desrosiers) and Squash contests. Look at the Awesome prizes and the bragging rights that are up for grabs! How could you resist? Information can be found under the odds and ends section link on the home page of Bigpumpkins.com or a new posting was made today. Just a reminder that the deadline for entry forms is May 1st. As of today there are 20 registered participants in the Squash contest and 30 in the pumpkin contest. My goal was 30 for Squash and 40 for Pumpkin... so here is your last chance to help me out and you last chance to win an 845 Bobier. I know there are some rookies out there who feel they don't have a chance at winning. All I can say is you never know unless you try. I know there has been a few rookies to break 800 their first year out and probably 1000? Can anyone name a few? To those more experienced growers, there are many newer growers in these contests and it may be your oportunity to walk away with what may be a historic first place finish in the first annual BP.com contests and the first place prize list and the 845 Bobier in the pumpkin contest. A true chance to make BP.com and Pumpkin history here! Maybe there will be a rotating plaque or trophy? Whos name will be on it for 2003? With any questions or comments please contact me at ([email protected]). Thanks and good luck to everyone! Mike Frantz

I think the really interesting thing about this contest is not only the prizes, but I don't know that I've seen an exact count on any other one seed being grown in one season. So we know for a fact that 30 are going in the ground, with a great deal of attention, with I'm sure the best crosses we all can find.

There are 30 registered growers of the 840 (31 as of yesterday p.m... me). But many may be growing more than one seed/plant. I am growing two plants. So, many more are going 'in the ground'.

FYI we are to 33 or 34 now! With a few of them doing more than one plant we may see more than 40 in the ground this year. I am very much looking forward to seeing the results of this wide planting, with the exception that it means the season is over. Man im pumped and ready to grow! If you want to get into the contest but dont have a seed, let me know I can help. Hoping to see 40 growers in the 840 contest. Its almost time everyone!!!!!!! Mike Frantz
