One italian grower called Antonio Santantonio, from Casciago (VA), Italy, has been so kind to send me a sample of his seeds, grown from Howard Dill's seeds. I remember to exchange a couple of e-mails with him some months ago, but I lost his e-mail address, and I would like to answer him. But that is not all: When I open the very well made cardborad packet, I found inside four seed envelops with the weihgt of the pumpkin, the year (all from 2002) and only the mother plant as reference, not the male pollinator, that is the reason I think they are open pollinated. First, a 478.39 lbs from 600 Dill appeared, then a 524.69 from an open Hebb seed, followed by a 540 from a 875 Dill. And then the last envelop had one 1069.22 from a 600 Dill(1016 LaRue x 866 Mombert). I was amazed, breathtaked, disconcerted. Is really possible that a gower had got one 1069 lbs pumpkin in 2002 in Europe and nobody knows about it??? If anybody has his e-mail and be so nice to send it to me I will appreciate it.

Don, any news from Italy? Checked some regional records (backyardgardener.com), the biggest one from Italy was from Alessandro Menzio, 759 lbs. I´m really curious about it, I thought the biggest european pumpkin came from Belgium.
