What is this seed's true genetics? Aggc says 827 x 722. But that could be because as few as one person thought/provided that(I think). Not sure though. I have had another very reputable grower who has been growing since well before then tell me it is an 827 x self...Backed up by some literature he had. Who is right? Which is correct? Any help here... BF PS. I don't know if this matters or whether it might prompt more responses, but, I am planning to plant this seed this year provided I can get clarification of it's genetics so as to make an educated cross <:^}>

i took a trip down memory lane--certainly one of the longest i've EVER taken, next to the 567.5 Mombert family tree---the only ones i saw that were selfed 827 Holland were the 836 Craven, 832 Jammer, both from '93, and a 400 uow Langevin from '96, if any of that helps.
i would trust the aggc...besides it is so far back that whatever cross you are trying to make will have to have another seed with equally-as-genuine genetics to support your educated cross, if there's any sense in there, then good. hope i'm helping! anyway, 836 Craven 1993 827.0 Holland 1992 Self-Pollinated 832 Jammer 1993 UOW 827.0 Holland 1992 Self-pollinated 400 Langevin 1996 UOW 827.0 Holland 1992 Self-Pollinated

Pumpkinpal, where exactly was your trip down memory lane? Aggc site, old literature from the day, grower from back then, etc? I have a very creditable "heavy hitter" that says he has literature "from the day" that say 827 x 827. I practically live on the aggc site so I put a lot of merit in what is there. However, when I have conflicting info like I do here, I just wonder how many people may have contributed info on that particular seed(on the aggc site)? My potential crosses all have "equally-as-genuine genetics." I just don't know which to use, based on the above genetic question. ????? BF

i used the AGGC also, SOLELY. i changed the menu to include all years of fruit, brought up the Holland 827 of 92, and had a look at the monsterous family tree of the progeny. i'm sure there are other ways to do it, but i scrolled down the list and stopped-in at every direct offspring at the far left, and checked off to the right for the ones that were "X self-pollinated".... there were only 3, the ones that i mentioned, and from that we can only be certain that those 3 are the only ones ever REPORTED to the AGGC. i guess the next step is to find out and ask whoever reported the info to the AGGC, but i did not see Norm Craven's email in the member list... i don't think i have helped at all, except for becoming more fluent on the AGGC myself..there are new things to be discovered. i wish you good luck in your quest! No new info, but I definitely appreciate your response. I'm sure someone out there has the info somewhere. It's just a matter of the right person seeing this thread and taking the time to do a little research. I hope someone will do this for me, BF <:^}>
