Has anyone attempted to obtain the same parentage of a great end result and duplicate the outcome? Actually, I feel certain someone has, but would like to see a dialogue on it.

The 845 Bobier is a good example of that. Same cross as the 723 Bobier. This is just one example, the most famous probably. Ben

The 1074 Calai 2002 and one of Beachy's seeds from last year are recreations of the 846 Calai. I'm sure you will see those two seeds planted this year.

Beachy's also done a 705 Stelts replicant cross. Check out the 838 and 714 Bobier's.

The 455 Andrews is a recreation of the 697Ciliberto 94. The only difference is the 502.5Ciliberto male for my 455 was a squash producer(had green fruit), and the 502.5Ciliberto91 used by Tony Ciliberto was a orange producer. So how come the 455 progeny so often toss out red-orange fruit????Redder and oranger than any 697 progeny Ive seen....go figure...............G

I like Sv's example since both pumpkins look nearly identical. I also think it is an interesting method for replenishing diminishing seed stocks. The next question is can we expect the 1074 Calai to have the save progeny as the 846? That would be spectacular now wouldn't it?

Thinking along those lines...why couldn't the 838 or 714 produce like the 723 or 845?

Time will tell...some time in october...Makes you think why more heavy hitters dont do more of the same crosses.

Funnydad, I think we can expect the 1074 to have a progeny somewhere similar as the 846, above or below, we will see. But look at the 845, its done loads better than the 723 has. I think this will be the year that we will know for sure whether this works with so many recreated crosses being planted. Ben
