a couple weeks in advance---be sure to remember that GENERALLY, the plant will grow in the direction OPPOSITE the first true leaf! some growers plant with the first true leaf at 90 degrees from the intended direction, so that the re-directing of the main vine will not be such a problem...good idea! also, it is possible that your plants can be planted in the soil at a 45-degree angle, so that no matter where the vine heads, it will be easier to direct it if necessary....there may be other opinions on this, but it is my personal experience with overly-long plants last year, because i relied on window-light after seedling emergence... MISTAKE! please use a couple of flourescent lights or gro-lites, suspended just above the seedlings until they get planted out....you will be better off. 'pal
