Nicely produced. Lacked significant technical detail, but I guess that's to be expected. Anyone know what Geneva Emmons had in the aerated liquid?

I enjoyed it also. It should spark some interest in the sport. Did you guys catch the guy in the beginning from Palmer, AK growing the various giant veges? I wonder if his compost tea is worth buying. It's a little pricey. http://www.alaskagiant.com/

Nicely done. It was well worth watching on a sunday. I didn't know it was on until my Dad called me. He is 72 and really enjoys Big Pumpkins and loves to bring his buddy's up to show them how i'm doing. Anyways, the show was very interesting. Wished they more on the Big Pumpkins. Was nice to see some of the top growers on National TV

thanks to the "pumpkin god's divine intervention", njh remembered about the show at 8:58.....2 minutes to spare!! (we were out of state for a week and had written it down before we left; no wonder we forgot). i thought the show was AWESOME !!! and he even noticed a guy in the background with a bigpumpkins.com t-shirt on...how cool.

I watched it too. My daughter tape it for me. I thought they did a good job on it. I was suprised on how much time they spent on the pumpkins. Most of the time when something is on like this, there is just about 30 seconds and they are off to something else.. Greg

Maybe we can send Geneva an email asking her what was in the bubbling liquid? I don't know her though I've heard she is very pleasant & shares ideas. I might have her email on the other computer. I'll check later unless someone beats me to it. Steve

Here is Geneva's reply, to the question.
"The aerating was something that I heard of from Pete Glasier as a good way to get 'old' seeds to germinate. The solution- could have some kelp in the water OR use a solution (I heard that George Lloyd uses this) of 1 oz. 3% hydrogen peroxide to 16 oz. water. I have never soaked overnight as I have heard that some do- usually at most a couple hours.
Geneva"

The HGTV program was fun. Good exposure for the sport. Some top notch growes got cameo appearances too. Jake van Kooten, Kirk Mombert, Jim Kuhn to name a few.
I guess I got a portion of my 15 minutes..... It was kinda funny to see me & my family on the show. That was me talking about my first attempt (350 est) My wife Stacy made the point that I was happy that I didn't have the smallest pumpkin @ the event.
I was guessing that Geneva's solution was Hydrogen Peroxide with an air pump. The seed edges were 'fizzing' after it was filed and put in. Gordon - Thanks for confirming.
Cheers, Erick

Great show! Especially the part from Topsfield where I got to see myself (15 seconds of fame) lifting the 1337 monster onto the scale.

John- I taped it... one of my two vcr's died this winter ... haven't gotten it fixed yet... if no one else can help you I can... it just might take a while before i get around to fixing it or buying a new one. Then i'd make a copy and send it off. Remind me a couple of weeks if you haven't obtained it from someone else. gordon
